Supporting regulation, confidence, and everyday life through nature-based Occupational Therapy in Wakefield, Leeds and surrounding areas in West and South Yorkshire.
The world can feel overwhelming. For many people, everyday demands, expectations, and routines can create stress, dysregulation, and a sense of being disconnected from yourself.
I am an Occupational Therapist who specialises in nature-based practice, working with people who feel out of sync with daily life. My work supports neurodivergent individuals, people recovering and healing from life changing surgery, and those experiencing anxiety, burnout, executive dysfunction, or difficulty with routines.
Rather than asking you to fit into systems that don’t work for you, I work alongside you to discover what does.
I support people who:
You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from this work — you just need to feel that something isn’t quite working the way you want it to.
I begin by meeting you exactly where you are. Through gentle assessment and conversation, we explore your current capacities, challenges, environment, and nervous system needs. From there, we move at your pace. Nature is used as a supportive and regulating space, not as a performance or therapy you have to “do right”, but as a grounding presence that helps the body and mind settle.
Together, we:
This is not about fixing you. It’s about supporting you to live in a way that works for your nervous system and your life.
Nature offers space, rhythm, and sensory input that many people find deeply regulating. It can reduce pressure, soften overwhelm, and create room for reflection and growth. Nature therapy centres on the belief that people are connected to and impacted by the natural environment. Used intentionally, nature supports nervous system regulation, self‑connection, and confidence - especially for people who feel overstimulated or misunderstood in traditional settings. You don’t need to be outdoorsy or adventurous. Nature meets you gently, wherever you are.
If you’re feeling dysregulated, stuck, or unsure how to move forward, you don’t have to figure it out alone. Occupational Therapy can be a starting point - a way to reconnect with yourself, rebuild confidence, and create a life that feels more manageable and meaningful. You are welcome exactly as you are.

Roots OT is a nature based Occupational Therapy service based in Wakefield, covering Leeds, West and South Yorkshire. We work with people who struggle to function in ways that are expected of them — often because they’re neurodivergent, anxious, burnt out, or healing from life changing surgery/conditions. We assess where someone is at, then gently support them to regulate their nervous system, rebuild confidence, and create daily routines that actually fit their life, rather than forcing themselves into systems that don’t!
"I have had the pleasure of working with Zoe, in order to address, mobility issues and the impact, they have had on my mental health. I found zoe to be very sound in her knowledge in both areas and I was given both practical and experience advice that is still helping greatly. On top of that sound advice, Zoe specialises in other areas linked to my issues, so was therefore able to unravel my difficulties or understanding to move forward. As I was referred to Zoe and was allocated a budget, it has been very sad not to continue with Zoe's help. Should my circumstances change, I would definitely refer myself privately to Zoe to make further use of the excellent support she provides. As a person, I found zoe to be very calming, encouraging, limitless options for problems that crop up and a genuine caring attitude towards improving your life to live or adapt to your difficulties. I would thoroughly recommend Zoe for her OT work and look forward to working with her in the future."
"Zoë has been amazing, she has really helped with my recovery from a car crash. From our 1st meeting she put me at ease and made me feel comfortable. Throughout our time together she helped me get equipment, gave me techniques and helped me plan routines so that I could manage my pain and anxiety."
"Working with Zoe has been an absolute privilege for me, a university student on the autism spectrum. Zoe’s dedication, expertise, and compassion have made a significant impact on my academic and personal growth."
"Thank you for all your support with my PIP application. I don't think I would have made it through the application process let alone been awarded it without your help. Thank you for making it as easy as could be"
"I attended Zoe’s first netwalking session at Anglers Country Park. I had such a lovely time. It was lovely to connect while in nature. Walking and talking made it a welcoming and friendly environment. I loved Zoe’s prompts that she naturally included into the session. Looking forward to coming again"
"Thank you, Zoe, for this morning's netwalk in Wakefield! I really enjoyed the event, and connecting with the other attendees. I found the choice of venue, and information beforehand, to be faultless. I thoroughly enjoyed our walk & talk, and the activities you facilitated on route were very tasteful and mood-improving. I came away feeling really well grounded, and having made some great business connections! I would totally recommend your netwalks to everyone who is seeking to meet other businesspeople in a comfortable, calm and serene outdoor environment."
"Brilliant session today loved it, thank you so much. Zoe holds a wonderful safe space for you to really tune back in. Connecting to nature in these sessions is really fabulous, lots of different activities that were really enjoyable and plenty of time for reflection. Really helping us tune back in and take time out for ourselves in an ever frantic world. Looking forward to other session."
" What a lovely way to spend time with my fab work crew! Much preferred this to going to the pub- Zoë’s cabin is so cosy! Tilly x "
" Brill night. Great way to bond with my work team. Made some lovely items. Can’t wait to try them, thank you x "
" Really enjoyed Sundays Recharge session and taking the head space to step away from the busyness of life. The woods were a great place to connect with nature and the activities Zoe offered were both enjoyable and a great way to switch off the mind and really notice and engage with the simple pleasures of the outdoors. Zoe is an excellent facilitator and I came away feeling relaxed, refreshed, and reset."
" Really enjoyed the session and the experience. Zoe creates a safe space with no pressure to get involved as much as you feel you can. As an HR professional I know research shows how connecting to nature and to other people does help. On a personal level, the session helped me unlock an issue that was on my mind too."
" I didn't stress for 5 minutes; I did feel my mind start to wander, but you gently brought me back- this is a miracle for me!"
